It is native to the Himalayas (Nepal, Bhutan, Assam, India, Bangladesh), northern Indochina (Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam) and the Andaman Islands, and widely cultivated elsewhere as an ornamental.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
