Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary located in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It was notified in April 2025 and covers 258.64 km2 under the North Sagar Forest Division, including areas of Banda and Shahgarh tehsils.[1][2]
The sanctuary was declared in April 2025 as the 25th wildlife sanctuary of Madhya Pradesh and named after Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The notification brought 258.64 km2 of reserved forest into the state's protected area network.[3][4]
Geography
The sanctuary lies in northern Sagar district, comprising dry deciduous forest, scrubland, and grassland landscapes typical of central India. It is positioned between the Vindhyan plateau and adjoining plains. Approximate central coordinates are 24°10′51″N 79°02′50″E / 24.18079°N 79.04712°E.[5]
