Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev (born January 3, 2001) is a Chechen-born Turkish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter competing in the Light heavyweight division. He currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Maintaining an undefeated professional career, Yakhyaev was the Light Heavyweight champion of the France-based ARES Fighting Championship organization before joining the UFC.[1]

Early life

Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev was born on January 3, 2001, in the Republic of Chechnya, Russia. Due to the Chechen-Russian war during his birth years, his family was forced to migrate to Turkey. He developed an interest in combat sports at an early age. In the later stages of his career, he chose to represent Turkey and began competing under the Turkish flag in the international arena. He conducts his training both in Turkey and at the MMA Nürnberg club in Germany.[2]

Mixed martial arts career

Early career and regional leagues

Yakhyaev started his professional MMA career in 2021 in the ACA Young Eagles organization. In his debut match, he defeated Elbek Ravshanov via technical knockout (TKO) in the first round. Subsequently, he drew significant attention by winning all of his matches in organizations such as Khan Fight and ACA.[3]

ARES FC Championship

Yakhyaev transferred to the France-based ARES Fighting Championship, one of the prominent organizations in Europe. With his outstanding performance here, he captured the ARES FC Light Heavyweight Championship title by defeating Paulin Begai at ARES FC 23.[4] His success in ARES FC led to him being noticed by international scouts.

Dana White's Contender Series

He was invited to the 2025 season of Dana White's Contender Series (DWCS). On August 26, 2025, he faced Alik Lorenz at the DWCS Week 3 event. He secured an impressive victory by knocking out his opponent in just the 30th second of the first round. Following this performance, he was awarded a UFC contract by UFC President Dana White.[5]

UFC career

Yakhyaev made his official UFC debut on November 22, 2025, on the UFC Fight Night: Tsarukyan vs. Hooker card. He started his career in the organization with a victory by submitting his Brazilian opponent Raffael Cerqueira via rear-naked choke in the first round.[6] He continued his undefeated streak with consecutive stoppage wins in 2026 against Brendson Ribeiro and Julius Walker.[7]

Fighting style

Known by his nickname "The Hunter", Yakhyaev is a versatile fighter effective in both striking and grappling. A large majority of his career victories have come by way of knockout or submission. He is particularly renowned for his explosive power and dominant style in the opening rounds.
