Playing career
Born in Sandpoint, Idaho and raised in nearby Bonners Ferry, Hiatt was a standout athlete [2] at Bonners Ferry High School graduating in 1997. Following High School, Hiatt played college basketball at Ricks College[3] and Westminster College[4] graduating in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history. Following his collegiate playing career, Hiatt enrolled at Brigham Young University earning a master's degree in geography in 2006. [5]

Coaching career
Following graduation, Hiatt served as an assistant coach at both the University of Idaho[12] and Westminster College [13] before being named men's head basketball coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah from 2011 to 2014, where he guided the school to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament 2013–14 season.[14] Westminster Announces New Head Coach for Men's Basketball Team Westminster in NAIA. In 2016 Hiatt became the Head Basketball coach at Montana Tech University [15] where he has guided the program to five (5) straight National Tournament Appearances and Four (4) Conference Regular Season & Tournaments Championships. [16] Frontier Conference [17]. Hiatt has been named Frontier Conference Coach of the Year 3 times. [18]
