Professor Ajay Taneja is an Indian environmental chemist and academic administrator who is currently serving as the Vice Chancellor^[1] of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University Lucknow. He has also worked as a Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of Faculty of Science, Director IQAC Dean Research at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Agra also known as the Agra University.

Ajay Taneja was born on 8 September 1967 in Olvakot, Palghat (now Palakkad), Kerala, India.

He completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, and pursued his higher education in Chemistry at St. John's College, Agra University.

He obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry in 1988 with first division and subsequently qualified the CSIR–UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) in Chemical Sciences in 1989. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from St. John's College, Agra University, in 1991.
