Early refereeing career

Vaz began his refereeing career in 1956 under the Western India Football Association (WIFA). Through consistent performances at regional and national tournaments, he rose through the ranks of Indian refereeing.

In 1968, he was promoted to National Class Referee by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), recognizing him among the leading referees in the country.
