Amstar DMC is an international destination management company (DMC) that provides tourism services, ground transportation and destination based travel experiences.
The company operates in Mexico, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, and Hawaii, serving leisure travelers though partnerships with tour operatios, travel agencies, meeting planners and hospitality companies.
History
Amstar DMC was founded on October 2nd, 1989 in Cancun, Mexico. Initially created to serve clients of Apple Vacations, it had a focus on groud transportation and destination support services.
In its early years, Amstar offered transportation services, accomodation support, guided excursions and coordination of tourist activities for international visitors. As the tourism to Mexico and the Caribbean grew, the company expanded its services into travel agency operations, transpostation services, and excursion programs to major attractions such as Chichen Itza and Xcaret.
During the 1990s and 2000s, Amstar DMC expanded across Mexico destinations and the Caribbean islands, adding services for meetings and events, and group travels. Later, operations extended to Central America (Costa Rica) and the United Stares (with Worldstar in Hawaii).
In 2021, Amstar, through Apple Leisure Group, was acquire by Hyatt Hotels Corporation[1][2], integrating the company to Hyatt's global travel and hospitality network.
Timeline

2002 - Expanded operations to the Dominican Republic
2003 - Opened in Puerto Vallarta
2007 - Established offices in Huatulco, Los Cabos and Cozumel
2014 - Began operations in Hawaii through sister company Wolrdstar
2016 - Expanded to Costa Rica
2019 - Expanded to Curacao
2020 - Added Aruba and Saint Martin as destinations[3]
2021 - Acquired by Hyatt
2022 - Recognized for operating the largest DMC transportation fleet in the Mexican Caribbean [4]
2024 - Celebrated the 35th Anniversary with a new corporate identity[5]
2025 - Began operations in Saint Lucia
