Draft:Ancient Civilizations Forum

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ancient Civilizations Forum (ACF) is an international organization founded in 2017 to foster cooperation, cultural exchange, and economic development among nations with significant historical legacies. Key member states include Greece, China, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Cyprus, Peru, Bolivia, and Armenia, with India and Mexico participating as observers.[1][2][3] It leverages cultural heritage as "soft power" to promote peace, combat the illicit trafficking of antiquities, and address threats to cultural heritage.[4][5]

The forum aims to bring together countries with ancient civilizations to share experiences, protect cultural heritage, and boost economic/social development. Focus areas include the impact of climate change on archaeological sites, repatriation of stolen artifacts, and promoting tourism.[6]

The forum was initiated by Greece and held its first official conference in Athens on April 24, 2017.[7]
