Anu Shah (also known as Anuja Shah) is an Indian-American entrepreneur, technology executive, author, and philanthropist. She is a technology executive who has held product leadership roles at Amazon and Meta Platforms, and is the founder and host of The Talk Lane podcast. Her career spans technology companies, venture capital, entrepreneurship in frontier markets, and advisory work with international development agencies.

Early life and education
Shah was born and raised in Mumbai, India. At the age of 20, she began working in a call centre in Mumbai, earning the equivalent of approximately $100 per month. She later moved into field sales and brand management roles in the fast-moving consumer goods sector in India.
Shah earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Leeds on a full merit scholarship. She enrolled in a Master in Public Policy program at Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University, which she later left to focus on building EFI Hub. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Genetics from the University of Mumbai. In 2021, she joined the International Advisory Board at the University of Leeds, an honorary role supporting the business school.[1]
Career
Strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and consulting
After completing her MBA, Shah joined Ernst & Young (EY) as a Senior Associate in Mergers and Acquisitions from 2012 to 2013. She then moved to A.T. Kearney as a Strategy Consultant from 2013 to 2016, working with clients across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East on organizational transformation and global expansion.[2]
Entrepreneurship and frontier markets
In 2016, Shah founded EFI Hub, a virtual incubator and accelerator for entrepreneurs in emerging and frontier markets across Africa and Asia. EFI Hub supported more than 200 entrepreneurs and early-stage companies.[3] In 2018, EFI Hub was acquired by UK-based investment firm Acorn Capital.[4][5]
From 2017 to 2018, Shah led Ushift Pte, an HR technology venture within Rocket Internet SE based in Singapore, connecting gig workers with employers in retail, hospitality, and logistics. Under her leadership, Ushift scaled to several million registered workers across Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The platform was later acquired by Jaz Group.[6]
She subsequently launched ResumeRanks.ai, an AI-powered platform designed to support recruiting and career development.[7]
Venture capital
In 2020, Shah served as a Venture Partner at OpenCore Ventures, a $100 million venture fund and venture studio founded by GitLab chief executive officer Sid Sijbrandij. At OpenCore, she advised early-stage founders and participated in the evaluation of investments in developer tools, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure software.
United Nations
From 2019 to 2023, Shah served as an advisor to the Office of the Assistant Secretary-General at the United Nations. Her work included program design for entrepreneurship-led gender parity initiatives in Africa and Asia, execution support for gender parity programs in West Africa and Central Asia, and collaboration with the Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology on ethical AI frameworks in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.[1]
Meta Platforms
From 2021 to 2024, Shah worked at Meta Platforms as a Product Lead. Her work included creative automation and generative AI tools for advertisers, brand advertising products, AI-driven content intelligence, and conversational AI systems.
Amazon
In 2024, Shah joined Amazon as a Principal Product Manager (Tech). Her work has focused on AI-powered assistant features, recommendation and optimization systems, and workflow automation for campaign management.
The Talk Lane podcast
Shah is the founder and host of The Talk Lane, a podcast featuring conversations with business leaders, policymakers, investors, and public figures.

Shah is the author of the children's book Little Hearts, Big Emotions: Understanding Feelings (2024), which introduces emotional literacy concepts for children.
She has contributed opinion and analysis pieces to several business publications. Her writing for CNBC Africa has covered topics including Africa's technology ecosystem, venture investment, SME impact, and gender parity in entrepreneurship.[8] Her opinion piece on India's potential as an alternative to China as a manufacturing and technology hub was published by CNBC Africa in 2020.[9]
She has also written for BW Disrupt on entrepreneurship and venture capital,[10] and for e27 on startup ecosystems and gender parity in technology.[11]
Philanthropy
Shah has donated $7 million to the UNHCR refugee rehabilitation programme, supporting housing, vocational training, mental health services, and women-led microenterprise programs in East Africa.[1]
She has served on the American India Foundation leadership committee in New York and has funded mobility devices for people with disabilities through various organizations.
