History
Arms Akimbo was formed in 2015 while its founding members were college students. Early interviews and artist‑profile pages describe the group as evolving from earlier musical collaborations among the members.[4][5][6]
The band’s original lineup reportedly included Peter Schrupp (vocals, guitar), Christopher Kalil (guitar, vocals), Colin Boppell (bass), and Matthew Sutton (drums).[7]
Their debut EP, Vignettes, was self‑released in 2015 and features early tracks including "Seven Mirrors".[8] In the following years the band performed at venues around California and continued to release new material, including the EPs The Wrong Kind of Dance Party and Seven Dollar Paycheck.[9][10]
In 2018 the single "Seven Mirrors" received media attention through an exclusive premiere in a music publication.[11] The band remained active into the 2020s: in 2021 they issued a self‑titled EP, which includes the track "Marble", and continued releasing singles via various streaming platforms.[12][13][14]
