He is a holder of a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in History from the University of Buea, a Master’s in International Relations from the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC), and he is also pursuing a PhD at a leading foreign university inorder to deepen his knowledge in governance and development (as of his candidacy).[2]
He founded NewSETA (“Network for Solidarity, Empowerment and Transformation for All”) and served as its Executive Director from around 2013 to 2025.NewSETA’s mission is empowering youth, promoting inclusive governance, peace, and civic engagement, and under his leadership, NewSETA launched the REPAIR initiative (“Rebuilding Peace through Actions with Inclusive Reach”), which has trained thousands of young Cameroonians in leadership, democracy, and civic skills.[3]
He has been active in promoting youth participation in politics, particularly through digital platforms, and during his time as a Hurford Youth Fellow (2016), he focused on how technology and social media can drive youths into political engagement.He is a founder or key figure in the African Movement for Democracy, a pan-African network promoting democratic governance and he has also been advocating to lower the legal voting age in Cameroon (from 20 to 18).[4]
Ateki Seta Caxton is vice-president of the Parti de l’Alliance Libérale (PAL).In July 2025, PAL held a special congress and invested him as its presidential candidate for the October 2025 election.He officially submitted his candidacy to ELECAM, the electoral commission, on 18 July 2025.However, in September 2025, the PAL announced that he would withdraw in favor of a unified opposition candidate, framing it as a strategic move for “the greater good” against the long-standing system.[5]
