International Finance Corporation

Alizai joined the IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, in the 1970s. The 1986 United Nations Yearbook lists him as Director, Department of Investments, Africa II.[1] He later headed the IFC's Oil, Gas and Mining Department. Two IFC press releases from the mid-1990s quote him in that role: one announcing a US$40 million financing package for the Kumtor Gold Company in the Kyrgyz Republic,[2] and another announcing an investment in India's oil and gas sector.[3]

Premier Oil

Alizai was a non-executive director of Premier Oil, which was listed on the London Stock Exchange until its 2021 merger into Harbour Energy. Companies House records show he was appointed to the board of Premier Oil Group Limited on 27 March 1997 and resigned on 28 January 2005, and separately served as a director of what is now Harbour Energy PLC from 15 July 2003 to 21 July 2006.[4][5] Premier Oil's 2000 annual report describes his earlier career, noting he had been Chairman of the West Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation and head of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.[6]

Pakistan Petroleum Limited

Alizai was Chairman of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), a state-majority-owned exploration and production company listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Financial data provider MarketScreener records his tenure as chairman ending in July 2010.[7]
