History
Bentek was founded in 2006 by Kurt Gehring, a public sector insurance and benefits specialist who also serves as National Practice Leader for Public Entities at Risk Strategies, an insurance consulting and brokerage firm. Gehring founded the company with the purpose of creating a benefits administration tool built specifically for public sector organizations, informed directly by the HR administrators, benefits coordinators, and payroll professionals who would use it.[2]
The company was established in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and grew to serve hundreds of government and education employers nationally. Julie Fink serves as President of Bentek.[3]
In November 2025, Bentek announced a strategic partnership with Software Solutions Inc. (SSI), a provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and human capital management solutions for local governments and utilities, to deliver integrated HR, payroll, and benefits administration for public sector clients.[3] That same month, Skyward—a K–12 school administration software company—expanded its partnership with Bentek to enable bidirectional data synchronization between the two platforms, simplifying benefits administration for school districts.[4]
In March 2026, Bentek was named a Winner in the Lighthouse Tech Awards in the category of Best Analytics, Measurement, and Business Impact Solution, presented by Lighthouse Research & Advisory in partnership with UNLEASH.[5]
