Reuters describes Bergman & Beving as a supplier of industrial consumables, components and related services for industrial and construction customers in the Nordic region.[2] Academic research and a 2024 master’s thesis have discussed Bergman & Beving (and related spin-offs) as part of a Swedish “serial acquirer” sphere associated with decentralised ownership and limited operational integration of acquisitions.[3][4]
According to the company, “Bergman & Beving is a corporate group that specialises in acquiring and developing market-leading companies in selected niche markets that provide productive, safe and sustainable solutions to the industrial and construction sectors.”[5]
Operations
Corporate governance
Reuters lists Magnus Söderlind as President and CEO and Jörgen Wigh as chair of the board.[2]
History
Bergman & Beving was founded in 1906.[5] The class B share was floated on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1976 and is currently listed on Nasdaq Stockholm’s Mid Cap list.[8]
Reorganisation and split (2001)
In 2001, Bergman & Beving distributed shares in Addtech and Lagercrantz to shareholders in connection with the group’s restructuring.[9]
Momentum Group spin-off process (2017)
In 2017, B&B TOOLS (the then name of the remaining listed entity) published separate financial information for Momentum Group as part of the process ahead of the planned distribution and separate listing of Momentum Group on Nasdaq Stockholm.[10] In June 2017, B&B TOOLS announced that a prospectus for Momentum Group had been published ahead of the distribution and listing process.[11]
Strategy and business model
Bergman & Beving describes its model as acquisition-led development of companies in selected niches, with decentralised operational responsibility in subsidiaries.[5] A 2024 master’s thesis based on interviews with key individuals and owners describes the “Bergman & Beving sphere” as emphasising decentralisation and avoiding operational integration or synergy programmes across acquired companies.[3]
Selected acquisitions
In books
Bergman & Beving is discussed in The Compounders (2025), a book about acquisition-driven publicly listed “compounders”.[15]
