Temporary sandbox cats

Hi there. Just to let you know, since you watch such things, I've temporarily created categories in my sandbox, as I draft 4 "year in the environment" articles. I expect that I will be done in 24 hours or less. Bearian (talk) 05:00, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

What about this draft? Bearian (talk) 20:40, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for helping with Draft:Veronika von Heise-Rotenburg

Thanks, bearcat, for helping with the formatting of Draft:Veronika von Heise-Rotenburg; I was not aware that no categories should be added in a draft. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Kind regards, robowizzard RoboWiZZard (talk) 10:08, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Teahouse concern to bring to your attention

Hello! I come from the Teahouse, where a user submitted concerns about someone reverting almost all edits on a page that they had created, among many other pages that they have contributed to. To me, it seems like they are violating WP:OWNBEHAVIOR and WP:DRNE, and that they are WP:NOTHERE. However, I am a relatively new editor, so I would enjoy it if you could check it out and give your opinion on the matter. Kind regards, --DollarStoreBa'alConverse 22:09, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

The Longest Goodbye

Hiya, @Bearcat! Thanks for creating that article. It sounds very interesting. But who are the astronauts who are the subjects of the film? Who is it about? Would you mind adding that so that unwashed peasants like me can have the basic context? I can look it up myself but there is so much that needs doing in Wikipedia, I figure you would have the information in either your browser history or you head. Hello, a help needed

While editing, I noticed the page Category:Lists of exports by country has the page Lists of exports of Bangladesh in the wrong index character. Could you fix it and inform me of why this happens? So, that I can fix it i the future as I have seen this happen quite a few times now. Greatder (talk) 19:16, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Grounded in the Stars

You needed to fix the capitalization on Grounded in the Stars, not just remove the category. Look at the previous edit, where someone is lowercasing "Black". Jahaza (talk) 04:44, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

New user warning template Uw-draftnocat

 Courtesy link: Template:Uw-draftnocat

Hi, Bearcat. Thanks for your efforts keeping content categories out of user and draft space. I noticed that you do a lot of these corrections, and that you also take the time to notify users about the problem, when they cross the line. (That probably means that other users do, too.) These user talk page notification messages appear to be all manually generated on your part, as the wording is subtly different from one message to another, but all the messages have a common structure with a few variable bits. Notifying users manually must take a lot of time, but the similar messages strongly suggest a tailor-made use case for creating a template.

Accordingly, I have created user warning template {{Uw-draftnocat}} to fill this need. It is primarily based on a mash-up of several UTP messages you have placed, but it is still green and a work in progress, and needs input from you and other editors as well. The default invocation requires no parameters, but because it is highly configurable, there is probably a brief learning curve that I hope will be accelerated by the template doc, but the intent is to make it easier for volunteers to signal a WP:USERNOCAT problem to a user who is unaware of the requirement so you can generate these messages more quickly and consistently. This is still very much a work in progress, but you are probably a prime candidate to try it out and offer feedback, ideally at the template Talk page. Please try it out and let me know what you think. If it turns out to be useful, it could be added to the tables at WP:WARN, and to the Twinkle installation. A tag has been placed on Category:Wikipedia featured topics Seasons of The O.C. good content indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. JHD0919 (talk) 12:13, 22 March 2026 (UTC)

Talk pages in categories

I saw your edit that people shouldn't file talk pages in article categories. That's an interesting point, which I'd never considered. But it looks like Talk:Burj Khalifa is still filed in a bunch of categories. You removed it from all the categories that were listed explicitly. But its header includes a bunch of Wikiprojects which, when added to a talk page, automatically include that talk page in a bunch of categories. For example, it's included in Category:Top-importance Dubai articles which is full of nothing but talk pages. Should those headers be moved to the article itself, rather than its talk page? Or should the Wikiproject coding be changed so that it adds the article itself to a category, rather than its talk page? - Burner89751654 (talk) 18:27, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Draft: Susan Barbour

Hi Bearcat and other Wikipedians,

We haven’t communicated in a while, so I hope you remember me. Unfortunately, I had to stop writing due to some health issues that took up a good part of last year. But I just wrote a bio on Susan Barbour, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Susan_Barbour&action=history but are having issues with a few links, and would really love feedback, plus help with any other corrections I may need to add/remove. It’s only my third bio in three years, so any help to make sure it’s compliant would be so appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance!

All the best,

Requesting a neutral, third party moderator opinion on dispute

Hello, im reachijg out to a wikipedia admin, to look at this from a neutral perspective. There is a type of cloth called Agbada Agbada, and my stance is the agbada's origin, is part of the wider, islamic world gown, that spread by trade, through the sahara and or the sahel. also known as It is actually quintessentially described as islamic clothing in all the links i provided. it was part of the agbada's wikipedia page, including the boubou's officialpage that the agbada was a variation of the boubou worn by multiple west african ethnicities, that are mostly islamic. but ethnic chauvinist, have removed, and changed things on both end. I have a discussion page, where if you may please review it. Talk:Agbada

as for the quotes, they directly mention the islamic influence, there is a clear consesus

1.) the knee-to-ankle-length, owing Boubou robe, Dashiki and Senegalese Kaftan (also known

as Agbada and Babariga), which have their origins in the clothing of the nobility of various

West African empires in the 12th century. The traditional half-sleeved, hip-long, woven

smocks or tunics known as Fugu in Gurunsi, Riga in Hausa, and worn over a pair of baggy

trousers, are also a popular garment (Nordquist & Aradeon, 1975)”
