The Bournemouth E-Prix is a proposed electric single-seater motor race which is intended to become part of the FIA Formula E World Championship calendar. Plans for the E-Prix involved the building of a temporary street circuit using the roads of Bournemouth, located in Dorset, England. As of 2026, it has not yet been officially announced nor incorporated into the official calendar of Formula E.

History
Initial plans for a Formula E race in Bournemouth were drafted by the group Wessex Entrepreneurs, who proposed a two-day race weekend paired with a week-long sustainability festival.[1] The company proposed a circuit starting on Christchurch Road that wound through the town centre and sea front, with the intention being to create a British version of the Monaco Grand Prix.[2]
In late 2022 the BCP Council expressed interest in possible benefits accruing to the environment and tourism, and the E-Prix was originally intended to enter the calendar for the 2023 season.[3] However, municipal funds could not be made available towards planning and construction due to budgetary constraints.[4] Following changes to the project's internal directorship, Breakthrough Events assumed responsibility and submitted a formal Expression of Interest (EOI) to Formula E Holdings, backed by private investors.
The plan has received public advocacy from former Formula E driver Sam Bird, who argued that a street circuit would be incredibly important for the local economy, and that it would be exciting to have an E-Prix "on my doorstep".[5]
Proposed Circuit
The proposed circuit spans 5.5 kilometres (3.4 mi) with 26 turns, running clockwise. The design centers hospitality and grandstand facilities around the Bournemouth Pier approach. The lap begins at Christchurch Road, and passes by the frontages of the Royal Bath Hotel. The proposed layout also runs through West Cliff Road and Durley Chine roundabout, with a straight as the A338 Wessex Way dual carriageway.[1][2]
