Bow Belle first gained recognition with her 2017 debut single "Runaway," inspired by her experiences escaping an abusive home and navigating the foster care system.[1] She later received broader attention for her 2026 protest ballad "Icey Roads."[4]
Early life and background
Bow Belle was raised primarily in Southern California and moved frequently throughout her childhood.[1] At age 17, she ran away from an abusive home and was detained by police, leading to her placement in the foster care system.[1]
Her experiences in foster care, including aging out of the system at 18, were later profiled in publications such as Foster Nation and Foster Focus Magazine.[1] She relocated to New York City on her 18th birthday.[1]
Education
Bow Belle attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), where she majored in Classical Voice and Musical Theater.[1]
Early career
Bow Belle performed in regional professional tours of Hairspray and Dreamgirls.[1] She also appeared on Season 9 of America’s Got Talent, receiving a standing ovation from the judging panel for her performance of "O mio babbino caro," although her audition did not air during the televised episodes.[1]
She later shifted her focus toward songwriting.[2]

“Icey Roads” (2026)
"Icey Roads" is regarded as Bow Belle’s most politically resonant work, incorporating themes of immigrant fear, community whistle alerts, colorism, and domestic surveillance.[4] The song also holds personal significance, as she completed the lyrics the night before the passing of her 17-year companion cat, Poptart.[1]
