Brett Cronan (born 6 August 1993) is an Australian rugby union referee for Rugby Australia. He currently referees at domestic level Super Rugby and Test Match level and has been appointed to major global competitions including the 2023 Rugby World Cup, the Six Nations Championship and The Rugby Championship.

Domestic career

Cronan became a professional Television Match Official in 2020 having started officiating in 2010. He started to receive appointments to Super Rugby as an assistant referee and TMO during the 2020 season.

He has been appointed as TMO for the Super Rugby Pacific final on multiple occasions, serving as TMO for both the 2024 and 2025 finals.[1]

International appointments

Cronan has officiated at the highest level of international rugby union. He was selected as the youngest ever TMO for the 2023 Rugby World Cup.[2][3] and has also been involved in fixtures across the Six Nations Championship, The Rugby Championship, mid-year rugby union tests and the end-of-year rugby union internationals.

His first international test match appointment as a Television Match Official (TMO) occurred during the Bledisloe Cup, officiating the match between Australia and New Zealand as part of the 2021 Rugby Championship.[4]

Cronan was selected as a Television Match Official for the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup Final Qualification Tournament in Dubai.[5]
