Bronco 956

Jose Urbina Rios (born c. 1978), known professionally as Bronco 956, is a Mexican-American social media personality and entertainer based in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He rose to international prominence on TikTok and Facebook in late 2022 for his physical resemblance to José Guadalupe Esparza, the lead singer of the musical group Grupo Bronco, and for his viral dance performances at regional flea markets.

Early life

Rios was born in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Prior to his social media career, he worked as a construction laborer, a trade he maintained during the early stages of his online fame.

Career

Rios began gaining traction in late 2022 after videos surfaced of him dancing at the Alamo Flea Market (locally known as La Pulga de Alamo). His signature style—consisting of flamboyant cowboy hats, sequined Western shirts, and mariachi-style trousers—combined with his resemblance to Lupe Esparza, led to the nickname "Bronco 956" (a reference to the regional area code for South Texas).[1]

In 2023, Rios signed with the management agency Mucho Talent LLC. His popularity led to a series of public appearances across South Texas, including nightclub performances, corporate grand openings, and community festivals.[2]

Public events and controversy

In 2023, Rios was reportedly escorted out of a Grupo Bronco concert at the Payne Arena in McAllen, Texas. Security allegedly removed him to prevent crowd disruptions caused by fans mistaking him for the actual lead singer.

In 2025, Rios was the subject of local debate when he was invited, and subsequently uninvited, as a guest for South Texas Comic Con. The organizers cited a shift in programming focus following a divided reaction from the local fan community regarding his fit for the event.[3]

In March 2026, Rios transitioned into influencer boxing, headlining a "Viral Boxing" event against fellow RGV personality Zman at the Mission Live Center.

Personal life

Rios resides in the Rio Grande Valley. In March 2024, he married Ruby, a social media influencer known as "La Reyna De Las Milpas 956." Rios' son, Josue Urbina, serves as a minister at New Life Temple Apostolic Church in Donna, Texas.[4]
