Cirilo Joseph "Ceejay" M. Javier is a Filipino music director, composer, and pianist best known for his work in musical theatre in the Philippines and for his role as Music Director (Entertainment) at Hong Kong Disneyland.[1][2]

From being a musical director at the Manila theatre scene, he transitioned to theme park entertainment at Disney, where he oversees music for live shows, seasonal events, and original productions at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.[3]

Javier’s work has received industry and national recognition. In 2017, he was named one of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) of the Philippines for Arts in Music, a prestigious annual honor recognizing Filipinos aged 18-40 who have made significant contributions to their fields or communities.[4] For theme park entertainment, the groundbreaking show he helped create - Let's Get Wicked was recognized as the Most Creative Halloween Haunt, Show, or Experience at the prestigious IAAPA Brass Ring Awards in 2022.[5]

Early life and education

Javier earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music in 2002.[6]

Career

Musical theatre in the Philippines

Before joining Disney, Javier established a career as a musical director and composer in Philippine theatre. He served as musical director for the international premiere of Fun Home in Manila (2016–2017), produced by Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group and starring Lea Salonga.[7]

He also worked as musical director on Philippine productions of Jersey Boys,[8] Shrek the Musical, Rock of Ages (musical), In the Heights, Next to Normal, The Bridges of Madison County (musical), Piaf (play), Next to Normal, The Full Monty (musical), and Disney’s The Little Mermaid, the latter earning him the BroadwayWorld Philippines Award for Best Musical Direction in 2012.[9] Javier was also the musical director for the Asian Touring Production of Saturday Night Fever (musical) in 2015.[10]

As a composer, he wrote the original score for Isang Panaginip na Fili in 2008. The first of many collaborations with Palanca-Award winning writer and librettist, Floy Quintos. He also composed the score for Floy Quintos' Ang Nawalang Kapatid, a Filipino musical adaptation of the Mahabharata produced by Dulaang UP in 2014.[11]

Hong Kong Disneyland

Javier joined Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in 2017 and became Music Director (Entertainment), overseeing music direction and music production for live shows, seasonal events, and original productions across the park.[12]

His work at the resort includes leadership roles on major productions such as the nighttime spectacular Momentous, Let's Get Wicked, Follow Your Dreams, Friendtastic, House of De Vil-lains and collaborations with external arts institutions, including the Hong Kong Ballet for StellaLou's Wonderful Wishes Ballet .[13]
