Charles Bernard Foster (born 20 July 1998) is an American actor. They[A] are best known for their recurring role as Wingo on the Amazon Prime series Scarpetta (2026), and for starring in the 2026 film Sparks.[1]

Early Life & Education

Family

Foster was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, the eldest child of actress Jodie Foster and her then-partner, production manager Cydney Bernard.[2] Both Foster and their younger brother, Kit, a chemist, are Jodie's biological children. Their father's identity has not been made public.[3] Through Bernard, Foster is a grandchild of Jay Kanter, and a relative of actor Bob Balaban, music producer Bob Thiele Jr., and actor Owen Thiele.[4] In 2014, after splitting from Bernard, Jodie married photographer and filmmaker Alexandra Hedison.[5][6]

Education

Foster attended the Windward School in Los Angeles and graduated in 2017.[7] They then attended Yale University to study English.[8] Foster was an active participant in campus theatre productions, starring in musicals such as Spring Awakening, Pippin, The Rocky Horror Show, The Last Five Years, and American Idiot.[9][10]

Career

After Yale, Foster moved to New York City. Their first professional role was as an understudy in Bess Wohl's Camp Siegfried, which premiered off-Broadway at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theater in 2022.[11] Their television debut came later that year with a guest role on the HBO sitcom The Garcias.[12]

From 2023 to 2025, Foster primarily worked as a voice actor for podcasts, including Popcorn for Dinner, Supreme: The Battle for Roe, The Coldest Case: The Past Has a Long Memory, and The Peek with Samuel Pepys.[1][13][14]

In 2025, Foster was announced to appear in a recurring role in Scarpetta, an Amazon Prime series starring Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.[15] They made their feature film debut[16] in the independent film Sparks, which premiered at the 2026 South by Southwest festival.[17][18]

Personal Life

Foster identifies as non-binary and uses both he/him and they/them pronouns.[19][20]
