Cody Ponder (born January 2, 1986, in Central Point, Oregon) is an American country music artist, songwriter, and law enforcement officer based in Southern Oregon. He is an active detective in the Special Victims Unit of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Ponder is known for his original music, live performances across Oregon, and his prior work as co-frontman of the country band Bridge 222.

Early life and education
Ponder was born in Medford, Oregon, and grew up in Central Point, Oregon. He attended Crater High School, where he was a four-year letterman in wrestling and earned All-League honors. He also played football, receiving All-Conference Honorable Mention as a tailback his senior year. His top athletic thrill was winning his first state championship in wrestling.[1]
After attending Southwestern Oregon Community College, Ponder transferred to Oregon State University, where he wrestled for the Beavers wrestling team at 174 pounds, redshirting in 2008.[2]
Law enforcement career
Ponder has served in Oregon law enforcement since 2010, beginning with the Benton County Sheriff's Office before serving with the Albany Police Department and the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training as a coordinator. He joined the Jackson County Sheriff's Office in 2018, where he currently serves as a detective in the Special Victims Unit. During the 2020 Oregon wildfires, he was among the first responders to the devastating Almeda Fire, which destroyed over 2,600 homes in the Rogue Valley. Oregon Governor Kate Brown personally honored Ponder and a fellow deputy for saving lives during the disaster.[3] He was also recognized by the State of Oregon as one of the "wildfire heroes" for his service during the crisis.[4]
Ponder is a member of Jackson County's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team, the only such team in Southern Oregon, where he specializes in DUII enforcement at crash scenes.[5] He was recognized as Oregon's top DUII enforcement officer in both 2019 and 2020.[6] In 2021, he was recognized as a Top Ten Emerging Leader by the Emerging Leaders organization.[7] Ponder has spoken publicly on DUI enforcement, including a KDRV news interview on impaired driving awareness.[8]
Music career
Bridge 222
In 2023, Ponder co-founded the country band Bridge 222 alongside fellow Jackson County Sheriff's deputies. The band was featured on KOBI5 (NBC affiliate) and performed at community events in Southern Oregon, including the Almeda tribute concert in 2024, which honored victims of the 2020 wildfires.[9][10]
Solo career
Ponder launched his solo music career on July 2, 2025. His debut single "Taillights" was released in October 2025, followed by "Wasn't God's Plan" and "My Hometown" in January 2026. His single "Liquor in My Cup" is scheduled for release on April 17, 2026.
In March 2026, "My Hometown" received regular radio airplay on Best Country 103 (KRSB-FM) in Roseburg, Oregon, with documented plays on March 10 and March 30. The song appeared in rotation alongside tracks by major country artists including Jelly Roll, Morgan Wallen, Tracy Lawrence, Tyler Hubbard, and Riley Green.[11]
Ponder's music is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and other streaming platforms. He performs regularly at venues across Southern Oregon and Northern California.
In April 2026, Ponder was featured in a full interview with Michael Moon on the Moon & Grubes morning show on Best Country 103 (KRSB-FM), during which "My Hometown", "Taillights" and "Liquor in My Cup" were played.[12]
