A 2007 profile in Broward-Palm Beach New Times described DJ GQ as a Fort Lauderdale mixmaster known in the mixtape circuit and as a resident DJ at Broward County clubs.[3]
DJ and radio career
DJ GQ began performing in South Florida in the 1990s, developing a style that blends reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, electronic, and pop music.[1]
He later became a mixshow DJ on WHYI-FM and a host on SiriusXM’s Tuff Gong Radio, where he presents Dancehall Cyaan Done.[1][4]
His career has been profiled by Spin, which described his role in connecting Miami’s Caribbean music scene with national radio platforms.[1]
He has appeared on event lineups with artists including DMX.[5]
Recording career
In 2020, DJ GQ released the EP Is It You?, which reached number 10 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.[6][2]
That year, the Jamaica Observer reported on his collaboration with Mr. Vegas and producer JonFX.[2]
In 2026, DJ GQ collaborated with Quino of Big Mountain on new music, including the track I'll Be There.[7][1]
