Solomon Obeng (born 1990), known professionally as DJ Loft, is a Ghanaian disc jockey and radio presenter based in Accra, Ghana. He works primarily in Afrobeats, hiplife, and Ghanaian highlife. In April 2025, he became the first Ghanaian DJ based in Ghana to be featured in Apple Music's Africa Now Mix series.[1][2]

Early life and education
Solomon Obeng was born in 1990 in Aburi, Eastern Region, Ghana, and grew up in Accra. He attended St. Peter's Senior High School and later enrolled at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.[3]
Career
Radio and club work (2010–2014)
DJ Loft began DJing in 2010.[1] Before joining radio, he performed at clubs and venues in Accra including Cinderella's Night Club, Shakazulu Night Club, Bloom Bar, Champs Bar, Polo Beach, and Sandbox Beach.[4]
YFM Ghana (2015–2026)
In 2015, DJ Loft joined Y107.9 FM (YFM Ghana) as the DJ on the Saturday Morning Live programme with Gideon Kodo. He later worked on the Weekend Rush with Brown Berry before becoming the resident DJ for the station's Ryse N Shyne programme.[4] He remained with YFM until 2026 and performed at the station's annual Area Codes Jam event throughout that period.[4]
Cups & Bass series (2021–present)
In 2021, DJ Loft began releasing the Cups & Bass mixtape series in collaboration with Ghanaian MC and hypeman Kojo Manuel. The series covers genres including Afrobeats, Asakaa, bashment, throwback hip-hop, and amapiano.[5] Editions include:

The series won Mixtape of the Year at the Ghana DJ Awards for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023.[1][6]
Black Sherif (2022–present)
In 2022, DJ Loft became the official DJ for Ghanaian recording artist Black Sherif.[7] He has since performed alongside Black Sherif at international events.[7]
Apple Music features
Ebro Show (2022)
In September 2022, DJ Loft's iMullar 016 Afrovibes Mix was broadcast on The Ebro Show on Apple Music 1, hosted by Ebro Darden. The mix was submitted through iMullar, a Ghanaian platform that works with Apple Music, and was selected by Darden for the programme.[3][8]
Africa Now Mix (April 2025)
In April 2025, DJ Loft was selected to curate Apple Music's Africa Now Mix for that month, becoming the first DJ based in Ghana to feature in the series.[1][2] Previous contributors to the series include DJ Spinall, TXC, DJ Zinhle, Oskido, DJames, and DJ Consequence.[1] His mix included tracks from KiDi, Ayra Starr, Moliy, Diamond Platnumz, Tyler ICU, and Vigro Deep.[7]
As of February 2026, DJ Loft had four releases charting simultaneously on the Apple Music Top Albums chart in Ghana: iMullar Residency: DJ Loft & Kojo Manuel, Dec 2025 (DJ Mix), Cups & Bass Energy Pro (DJ Mix), DJ Loft & Kojo Manuel: 2024 Afrobeats (DJ Mix), and Afro Calefaction (DJ Mix).[9]
