Early life and education
David Robert Schifino was born on August 26, 1973, in East Providence, Rhode Island and was raised in Kent Farm Village.[2] He grew up in Providence Rhode Island, where he experienced with all different styles of music growing up.[1]
Career
In the late 80s-early 90s he started off spinning hip hop, reggae and house music.[3][4] To affords his first set of turntables, he earned money by selling imitation Run-DMC style gold chains.[5]
In 1989, Venom worked as a hip-hop DJ for a local radio station, a role he held for three years.[6] He met and started working with the hip-hop music director.
By 1991, after Venom attended his first techno and house event, Venom shifted his musical focus from hip-hop to electronic music, becoming deeply involved in the rave and techno scene in New England.[7]
In 2000, Venom signed with the Chicago hard-house label Underground Construction. His hard-house style aligned closely with the label, leading a series of successful commercial mix CDs to be released, including the Straight Bangin' series, the House Blend series and the Raise the Volume series.[8] [9]
In 2011, Venom signed with Hard Dance Nation, producing a mostly mix of their popular podcast series.[9]
