Christopher David Law Hemson (18 Jul 1945 - 7 Nov 2025) was born in Durban, South Africa. [1] Educated at Kearsney and the University of Natal, where he served on the Students Representative Council and edited the student newspaper, Dome.[2] Hemson was was active in NUSAS, with other student leaders and as a young academic, played a part in transforming labour relations in Durban with the establishment of trade unions for Black workers.[3]
