Background

After releasing their second studio album, Diplomatic Immunity 2 in November 2004, the group began working together less and less, with Jim Jones and Juelz Santana both pursuing solo careers and The Diplomats officially breaking up in 2007 due to tensions between Cam'ron and Jim Jones. The two ended their feud in 2010, and a Dipset reunion was teased many times in the following years, with a comeback album originally announced in 2011, but delayed numerous times.[1][2][3][4]

On November 15, 2017, Jim Jones announced on his Instagram that a new Diplomats single was to be released that night, titled "Once Upon a Time", featuring him and Cam'ron.[5] On November 22, 2017, The Diplomats revealed on MTV's TRL that they would be releasing a new project along with a documentary in the near future.[6] Later that night, the group performed a one night only reunion concert at the Manhattan Center, where they were joined by fellow New York group ASAP Mob.[7] The group embarked on a reunion tour across the U.S. in 2018, and in September, Jim Jones teased a tracklist on his Instagram.[8][9] On October 8, 2018 Jones finally confirmed Dipset would be releasing a new album titled Diplomatic Ties on November 22, 2018.[10][11][12]
