Disappearance
On June 3, 2022, a 3-year-old boy named Ryker Webb was playing with the family dog in his backyard in Troy, Montana, under his father's watch when he wandered out of his backyard into a nearby forest in Troy, Montana, after his father stepped inside for a few moments.[1][2]
Instead of reporting the disappearance, Webb's family opted to search for him until they ultimately decided to notify authorities two hours after he disappeared.[3] Law enforcement's response to Webb's disappearance launched a wide-scale search starting on June 3 and ending on June 5 and was operated by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.[4][5]
Discovery
On the morning of June 5, 2022, a total of 53 active SAR personnel were conducting ground grids when the command post was notified that a couple had discovered Webb inside a generator shed two miles from his residence.[6][7][8]
Lincoln County Sheriff Darren Short responded to the cabin site to confirm the recovery.[9][10] Webb was treated on-scene by the Bull Lake Volunteer Ambulance and transported to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center for severe dehydration and exposure before being medically cleared.[11][12][13]
