Dr. Ankit Gulia is an Indian cardiologist and medical activist associated with preventive cardiology initiatives in Punjab and Haryana. He has participated in community cardiovascular screening programs and has been involved in medical student advocacy movements concerning bond policy reforms and stipend revisions.[1][2][3]

Early life and education
Dr. Gulia was born in Village Lagarpur, Tehsil Badli, District Jhajjar, Haryana, into a farming family. He completed his early schooling in rural Haryana before moving to Ganga International School in 2010 for higher secondary education.
He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2017 from Pt. B. D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. He subsequently pursued postgraduate training in Internal Medicine (MD/DNB) through the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
In 2022, he was admitted to the Doctorate of Medicine (DM) program in Cardiology at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.[4]
Medical career
Dr. Gulia has been associated with preventive cardiology initiatives and community screening programs in Punjab.
On 26–27 September 2025, he participated in a two-day cardiovascular screening camp at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, organized by Dayanand Medical College & Hospital. A total of 1,010 individuals were screened, with 120 newly diagnosed cases of hypertension and 80 cases of diabetes identified.[5]
Under the “Mission Swasth Kavach” initiative, he collaborated in large-scale training programs across Ludhiana district. Reports indicate that over 25,000 teachers and students were trained in blood pressure measurement and more than 10,000 individuals received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.[6]
Research
Dr. Gulia has participated in clinical and epidemiological research in cardiology.
- Clinical and Echocardiographic Profile in Patients Presenting with Left Bundle Branch Block (2021) – Conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Gurpal Singh, former Head of Department, Government Medical College, Amritsar.
- Clinical and Angiographic Profile in Women Presenting with Acute Coronary Syndrome (2025) – Conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shibba Takkar, focusing on gender differences in presentation and angiographic findings in women with acute coronary syndrome.
- Youth as Catalyst: A Novel Approach to Addressing Hypertension Awareness and Detection (2025) – Co-authored with Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander and Dr. Bishav Mohan; published in Annals of Pediatric Cardiology.[7]
Activism and leadership
Resident Doctors’ Association (2022)
In 2022, Dr. Gulia served as President of the Resident Doctors’ Association at PGIMS Rohtak during statewide protests against a ₹40 lakh bond policy imposed on medical students in Haryana. Media reports quoted him regarding the policy changes and ongoing protests.[1][2]
The Haryana government subsequently reduced the bond amount to ₹30 lakh.[2]
FAIMA and stipend movement (2025)
In 2025, he was reported as National Coordinator of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) in Punjab and participated in protests advocating stipend revisions and fee reforms.[3]
