Early life and education
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Shreeve attended the University School of Nashville, then studied graphic design at Pratt Institute in New York and filmmaking at New York University.[1]
Career
Shreeve's film work includes Dangerous Music featuring Welker White (Goodfellas), Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey (The Normal Heart), and Obie Award winner Kathleen Chalfant.[2] His first documentary, Kids of Penzance, about a high school production of Gilbert and Sullivan at Manhattan’s Friends Seminary, was featured on the Documentary Channel.[3] His next, Queer City, followed the lives of seven highly diverse LGBTQ New Yorkers forming a complex portrait of contemporary gay life.[citation needed] Co-produced by Henry Chalfant and Public Art Film, it has screened at festivals and colleges in the US and abroad, winning Best Feature Documentary at qFLIX in Philadelphia.[citation needed] Gary Kramer in IndieWire called it, “Dazzling…impassioned and emotional. An affecting mosaic of urban queer life.”[4] Shreeve's most recent documentary, Everything Matters, tells the stories of the patients of Dr. Ann Webster, a therapist in mind-body medicine at Harvard Medical School.[5]
Personal life
Shreeve has traveled widely, taking photographs in Europe, Asia, South America, Cuba and India.[citation needed] He has worked as a film editor and collaborated on several screenplays.[citation needed] His work is included in the permanent Special Collections of Swem Library at the College of William & Mary.[citation needed] He lives in the West Village of New York City.[6]
