Einar Kuusk (born 22 June 1989) is an Estonian actor and director. He is known internationally for his role as Arkady Kachimov in the Netflix film Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023), opposite Idris Elba and Andy Serkis, and for appearing in the BBC One thriller series The Capture (2019).[1][2]

Early life
Kuusk was born in Kuressaare, a town on the island of Saaremaa, Estonia.[3] He began making short films at the age of ten using a VHS camcorder.[4] He has cited comedian Tom Green as an early influence, and as a teenager produced video content for Green's website tomgreen.com, some of which Green featured on his live internet talk show Tom Green's House Tonight.[4][2][5][6][7] He subsequently began uploading videos to YouTube shortly after the platform launched, and has been described as one of Estonia's first and most popular YouTubers.[3][8][9]
Career
Estonian film and television
Kuusk played the lead role of Martin in the Estonian road-trip comedy Ameerika suvi (internationally titled Chasing Ponies), directed by Rain Rannu and released in 2016.[10][11][12] In 2022, he appeared as Enrico Malvis in the Estonian television series Kättemaksukontor (Revenge Office).[13] He appeared as Branimir in the Estonian comedy film Free Money (2023), and in the comedy film Mind on kaks (2024).[14][15][16][17] In 2025, Kuusk appeared in the Estonian television series Minu kallis ema (My Dear Mother).[18][19]
International work
In 2018, Kuusk starred in the horror film The 16th Episode, which was shot in Casablanca, Morocco.[20] In 2019, Kuusk appeared as Covert Op Ray in the first series of the BBC One crime thriller The Capture.[21][2][22]
In 2023, he played the role of Arkady Kachimov in Luther: The Fallen Sun, a Netflix film based on the BBC television series Luther. The film starred Idris Elba, Andy Serkis, and Cynthia Erivo, and was directed by Jamie Payne.[1][23][24][2]
Directing
In 2015, Kuusk wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the post-apocalyptic science fiction short film The Most Beautiful Day, which was shot on location in Estonia and funded through crowdfunding.[25][26][4] In 2021, he wrote, directed, and starred in the short film Pandemic.[22]
