Finlay James Tunstall (born 22 December 2006) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Northern Premier League side Prescot Cables, on loan from EFL League Two club Accrington Stanley.[1]

Career

Accrington Stanley

After playing youth football for Sheffield Wednesday from 2018 to 2023, Tunstall joined Accrington Stanley as a midfielder on a scholarship deal on 24 July 2023.[2] Aged 17, he made his first team debut just over a year later, on 29 October 2024, coming off the bench in an EFL Trophy win against Everton u21s.[3][4] He captained the Youth team which reached the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup, losing out to the eventual winners Ason Villa.[5]

Matlock Town (loan)

In February 2025 Tunstall joined Northern Premier League side Matlock Town on an initial 28-day loan,[6] eventually making three first team league appearances.

Returning to Accrington Stanley, on 6 July 2025, Tunstall signed his first professional contract with the club.[7] In August 2025, he was in the starting line-up in Accrington's Carabao League cup win over Oldham Athletic,[8] and also made substitute appearances against Peterborough United[9] and Doncaster Rovers in the same competition.[10]

Marine (loan)

On 24 October 2025, Tunstall joined joined National League North team Marine on a one-month loan.[11] A day later, he came off the bench to make his debut, in a 2–1 win at Scarborough Athletic.[12]

Brighouse Town (loan)

Tunstall joined Northern Premier League side Brighouse Town[13] on a one-month loan on 3 December 2025, making his debut against Redcar Athletic later the same day.[14]

Prescot Cables (loan)

On 26 January 2026, Tunstall joined Northern Premier League side Prescot Cables on loan,[15] making his debut on 27 January 2026 in a 3–0 win over Warrington Rylands 1906.[16]
