On January 8, 2024 a natural gas explosion that happened at the Sandman Signature Hotel in fort worth, Texas. The explosion caused 21 injuries[1]

Background

The sandman signature Hotel is a 245-room heritage building that was built in 1920 and is the building, known as the W.T. Waggoner Building is on the National Register of Historic Places [2]

The explosion

the explosion happens on January 9th and the blast blew out doors and sections of wall, The explosion also caused shattered windows and the littered the streets with debris. The explosion caused 21 injuries and one person had serious injuries[1]

Aftermath and investigation

24 hours later the investigation happens[3] and the local fire department was working with state and federal investigators and utility workers[1] to determine what was the cause of the explosion and the local fire chief Jim Davis said the explosion was most likely caused by natural gas[3]

Lawsuit

On January 11, 2024 resident Christopher Medearis filed the first lawsuit and a second lawsuit was filed on January 17th by David Seibolt and by the 8 more cases were file against Northland Properties, Rock Libations (which owns the Musume restaurant inside the hotel), and Atmos Energy.[4]
