Biography

Early life and family

Gerónimo was born on April 11, 1989, into a working-class family in the locality of Tolosa, Province of Buenos Aires, and spent most of his childhood in the 19 de Febrero neighborhood of La Plata[2]. As a child he frequently played football with friends and has identified since youth as a supporter of Club Atlético Platense; he has sometimes been referred to informally as an ambassador for Platense. Although his academic performance was not poor, he was expelled from several schools during adolescence for behavioral issues.

Education and early work

In adulthood, before pursuing streaming as a profession, he studied law and completed one year of psychology at the National University of La Plata, but did not graduate, later saying that he lacked the resolve to finish. During his studies he held several jobs, including working as an administrative facilitator for Italian citizenship procedures — he holds Italian citizenship — and working in a nightclub. It was at the nightclub where he met his friend Coscu, who later introduced him to the influencer community.

Career

Beginnings on Twitch

Momo began streaming on Twitch as a hobby around 2013, broadcasting from his small student room while studying law. His earliest streams focused primarily on the first-person shooter Counter-Strike. Over time he accumulated followers as clips and highlights from his broadcasts circulated online.

Rise to prominence

Viral clips and collaborations with other prominent streamers — notably Coscu and Ibai Llanos — elevated his profile and turned him into an internet celebrity. In 2021 he received the Coscu Army Awards prize for Best Streamer[3][4], a recognition that helped consolidate his career. Momo expanded his repertoire into IRL (in-real-life) streams, traveling through European cities (including Naples and Venice) and visiting historical sites such as Auschwitz-Birkenau. During these travels he formed an unlikely on-screen partnership with Argentine correspondent Christian Martin. He also began producing sports journalism-style interviews and reports focused on football, meeting prominent players such as Sergio Agüero and Marcos Acuña, which later led to his role as a spokesperson for the Argentine national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

La Velada del Año

In the second edition of La Velada del Año, a boxing event organized by Ibai Llanos, Momo played a central role, fighting the Spanish YouTuber Viruzz in a match that drew the event's peak viewership[5]. He entered the ring accompanied by his friend, the rapper Duki, and carried the Argentine flag. Although Momo lost the bout after the referee stopped the fight due to excessive bleeding, his performance and effort were widely noted[6].

Future projects

Momo has stated that he intends to continue producing travel-focused content and IRL streams in major European cities.

Controversies

2022 FIFA World Cup (Qatar)

While serving as a spokesperson for the Argentine national team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Momo was removed from his role by FIFA following controversy over a video published after the match against the Netherlands. The video showed the influencer insulting the Dutch team and FIFA, which resulted in sanctions and his dismissal from the spokesperson position[7][8][9]

Interview with Sergio Massa

In the context of Argentina's 2023 presidential election campaign, Momo interviewed Unión por la Patria candidate Sergio Massa at a campaign closing event[10][11]. The interview drew strong criticism from supporters of rival candidate Javier Milei, as well as from some of Momo's followers and Argentine media outlets. Momo responded to the backlash by saying he had intended to interview both leading candidates but was not given the opportunity to interview Milei.
