Halliday Avray Wilson Born in London in 1967, Halliday (Hal) Avray Wilson, grandson of Frank Avray Wilson, is a British sculptor who works principally with bronze and steel.

Early life

Wilson was born in London, in 1967, the son of Austin Raymond Wilson.[1] and Diana Cameron, grandson to Frank Avray Wilson. He was educated in the South West of England. He then pursued art at the Beaux-arts in Oxford and Florence.

Career

Wilson trained at the Beaux-arts in Oxford and Florence before moving to France in 1994.[2]

At the start of his career he approached art with innovative techniques which resulted in a fascinating and unique body of works. As his work became more widely recognised he became an associate of the Royal Society of Sculptors. In 2011 he was elected Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres [3] by Frédéric Mitterand, a high honour on behalf of the French Ministry of Culture [4] for his contributions to art both in France and internationally.

Throughout his career he has also notably been recognised for his sculptures The Weatherby Horse in Wellingborough, Victoire a monument dedicated to the French Resistance built at Les Ancizes Comps Auvergne France [5] and St Julien in Dontreix, France [6]. Futhermore he collaborated with the Art of Elysium [7] Los Angeles and the EOD in Berlin, Germany. He also displayed his sculpture of The Running Man in the Olympic Village, Stratford London to mark the 2012 London Olympics[8]

Personal Life

Wilson is married and has two children.
