Early life and education
Lee Hee-seung was born on October 15, 2001 in Gyeonggi, South Korea.[1][2] For more than three years, Heeseung trained to become a K-pop idol under Big Hit Entertainment. He trained alongside the members of Tomorrow X Together.[3]
Career
2020–present: Enhypen, solo career
In 2020, Heeseung joined the reality competition program I-Land. He finished in fifth place, debuting in the K-pop boy band Enhypen on November 30.[3]
On May 30, 2022, Heeseung released a cover of "Off My Face", a track from Justin Bieber's album Justice.[4] The performance received positive reviews from critics. Larisha Paul of Rolling Stone described the cover as "wedding-ready".[5] Starr Bowenbank of Billboard called Heeseung's vocal runs "subtle".[4] NME's Gladys Yeo called the rendition "beautiful".[6]
On June 7, Heeseung appeared in an episode of LeeMujin Service, performing a set of song covers. Among others, he sang a solo rendition of "Tamed-Dashed" by Enhypen.[7]
In 2024, Heeseung produced a track from Enhypen's 2024 album Romance: Untold, "Highway 1009", which he also co-wrote with the rest of the band. Jeff Benjamin of Billboard described it as a heartfelt acoustic song.[8]
In January 2025, Heeseung was featured in the Flo Rida single "Confessions", alongside Enhypen bandmate Jake and American rapper Paul Russell.[9]
On March 10, 2026, Belift Lab announced that Heeseung would be leaving Enhypen, effective immediately.[10] Fans created a Change.org petition urging the company to reverse his departure from the band. As of March 12, it accumulated more than 1 million signatures.[11][12] In a statement to The Korea Herald, Belift asserted that Heeseung will not rejoin Enhypen.[13]
Public image
According to Tatler Asia's Angela Nicole Guiral, Heeseung possesses a distinctive fashion sense and "star quality".[14] In January 2026, he won in the fan-voted UPick Global Choice category at the D Awards, reportedly receiving more than 1 billion votes.[15]
Personal life
In November 2021, Heeseung was diagnosed with an epidermoid cyst and underwent surgery to remove it.[16]
