Early life and background
Hoopper was born in the state of Alagoas, Brazil. Before pursuing a solo career, he was active as a bassist in rock and alternative bands, an experience he has cited as influential in shaping his later approach to rhythm, structure, and arrangement.[3][4]
After relocating to Europe, he settled in Milan, Italy, where he began developing a body of work oriented toward vocal-driven compositions and minimal instrumentation. His early independent releases marked a shift away from band-based performance toward studio-focused songwriting.
Career
Hoopper released his first full-length project, Undergoing a RE_Construction, in 2024. The album introduced themes that would recur in his later work, including emotional instability, memory, and self-observation.
In September 2025, he released his second studio album, I Let You Hurt Me Soft. Reviews described the record as a cohesive narrative project centered on vulnerability and psychological tension, emphasizing continuity over individual singles.[1][5] [6] [7]
In January 2026, Hoopper launched MMAM, a conceptual project structured in three parts and released episodically throughout the year. MMAM – Part I was introduced alongside the singles "Lost Without You" and "Don’t Let Me Fall". Coverage of the project highlighted its diaristic structure and its focus on emotional restraint rather than traditional pop dynamics.[8][2]
Italian publications have framed MMAM as part of a broader emergence of a European interpretation of R&B that prioritizes atmosphere and introspection over mainstream conventions.[9][10]
Musical style and influences
Hoopper's music has been described by critics as minimalist and subdued, relying on repetition, sparse arrangements, and understated vocal delivery.[9] His songwriting frequently centers on internal dialogue, emotional dependency, and interpersonal distance. [11] [12]
Several publications have noted the influence of alternative rock and blues structures in his work, particularly in his use of bass lines and pacing, which diverge from conventional R&B production trends.[3]
