The institute was established by the Government of Uttarakhand as part of an initiative to expand technical education in remote and hilly regions of the state. It commenced its academic session in 2023 and is among the campus institutes under the university.
History
The Institute of Technology, Baun was established under the framework of technical education expansion by the Government of Uttarakhand and the Department of Technical Education. It was set up as a campus institute of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University to improve access to engineering education in underserved regions.
The institute is considered one of the campus institutes of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Dehradun.[3]
