Biography

Caleb Irby was born in Colorado on August 23, 2005, and was raised in Oklahoma, then Texas. He has spoken publicly about experiencing a difficult upbringing, including exposure to substance abuse, alcohol abuse, and family mental health struggles, as well as situations involving abuse, neglect, and time spent in foster care. Irby has also stated that he was separated from his family at points during childhood and was later adopted.

He became interested in music during his teenage years while attending DAEP (Disciplinary Alternative Education Program) in 2020. During this period, Irby found inspiration through listening to artists such as Eminem, and later Logic, after discovering Logic’s song “Homicide.” Irby later described his early attraction to rap as a turning point, saying that he began rapping frequently after realizing he could perform the style.

Career

2020–2022: Early recordings and beat tapes

Irby began making music in 2020, initially creating beat tapes using school computers on the music-creation website Soundation. In his earliest phase, he recorded improvised vocals with limited equipment, often using a low-cost microphone connected to a phone. He later began experimenting with mixtape recording, including sessions in his theater teacher’s costume closet using a friend’s laptop.

One of his earliest collaborators was Julian Lee, creator of The Julian Lee Show, who provided support during Irby’s early recording experiences.

2023: First major release

In 2023, Irby began taking music more seriously, describing his motivation as both personal and mission-driven—seeking to share his story and connect with others who had experienced similar struggles. His first notable release was the mixtape Soul Abuse: the Mixtape, released on March 3, 2023.

2024–2025: Artistic development and increased output

In 2024, Irby began developing his engineering skills, with a focus on improving his mixes and overall sound quality. He continued evolving as an artist throughout 2025, when he began writing lyrics consistently and refining a style shaped by both traditional rap and alternative influences.

2026: wishing well.

On January 31, 2026, Irby released his debut album, "wishing well.", a project centered around relationship memories and personal reflection. Irby has described the album as a way to process past experiences by turning thoughts and emotions into lyrics.

As of 2026, IrbyMissingAK remains an independent artist and has not signed to a record label.
