The Islamic Republic of Japan (IROJ) is a fictional country and internet meme created after a widely shared verbal slip in which the phrase "Islamic Republic of Iran" was mistakenly said as "Islamic Republic of Japan." The meme inspired edited flags, fictional maps, mock government pages, and fabricated national statistics across social media.
