Jennifer Jane Virgin (known professionally as JJ Virgin) is an American nutrition and fitness expert, author, and media personality. She has written multiple books that appeared on The New York Times Best Seller list, including The Virgin Diet (2012) and The Sugar Impact Diet (2014), making the list four times in total.[1][2] She is the founder of Reignite Wellness, a company offering nutrition products and health coaching services.[3]

Early Life and Education

Virgin studied exercise science at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She later earned a master's degree in biomedical sciences from California State University, Northridge, and completed graduate-level coursework in nutrition, biomechanics, and aging at the University of Miami and the University of Bridgeport.[4]

Career

Virgin began working in the fitness and nutrition fields in the early 1990s as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant. She provided nutrition and fitness programs for celebrity clients including Gene Simmons and Ben Stiller.[5] She later focused on functional and integrative health approaches, emphasizing body composition, resistance training, and dietary strategies for metabolic health.[4]

She co-hosted the TLC reality series Freaky Eaters (2010) and served as the on-camera nutrition consultant for Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Challenge. She has appeared as a health expert on television programs including Dr. Phil, The Doctors, Access Hollywood, and PBS, as well as the Hallmark Channel's Home & Family.[6]
