Jacob "Yasha" Grobman (Hebrew: יעקב יאשה גרובמן; born 1967) is an Israeli architect, academic, curator, and museum director. He is a full professor in the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he previously served as dean. In January 2026, he was appointed director general of the Israel Museum, and assumed office in March 2026.[1][2]

Early life and education
Grobman was born in Moscow in 1967 and immigrated to Israel as a child. He studied architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1997. He later earned a master's degree from the Design Research Laboratory at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, and completed a doctorate at the Technion in 2008.[3][4]
Academic career
Grobman joined the Technion faculty in 2010. His research and teaching have focused on computational design, digital fabrication, and performance-oriented approaches in architecture.[3]
In 2019, he was appointed dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technion.[4] He later promoted to a full professor.[5]
At the Technion, he leads the T_CODE computational design research group.[6]
Writing and curatorial work
Grobman has been active as a curator and writer on contemporary architecture and digital design. Together with architect and scholar Eran Neuman, he edited Performalism: Form and Performance in Digital Architecture, published by Routledge in 2012.[7]
