Personal Life

Minch was born on February 22, 2003, in Monroe, Connecticut, a suburban town in Fairfield County.[1] Minch grew up with a troubled home life.[2] His father died before his fourth birthday, and Minch would only find out at 19 that his father’s death was a suicide.[3][4] His mom struggled financially, but still managed to make time for Minch and his younger sister, Jessie.[3][5] Minch started writing at 12 years old citing sketching as a no longer sufficient outlet for expressing his emotions. Minch believes his writing began to take off during COVID-19, describing it as a period in which he really started to find his own voice.[6] Minch has credited Dodie, Conan Gray, Rusty Clanton, Phoebe Bridgers, Connor Oberst, Lizzy McAlpine, Alix Page, Bon Iver, and Leif Vollebekk as inspirations in his work.[1] Minch has struggled with substance abuse, specifically an addiction to cigarettes. His failed attempts at quitting would inspire his song "Fingers and Clothes."[7][8] After spending two years in Los Angeles, Minch moved back to Connecticut and is now based in Brooklyn, New York.[6][7] In his free time, Minch likes to draw and sketch and is into running.[9]

Career

2021-2024: Tiktok, "Handgun," how many, and jessie

In October 2021, at 18 years old, Minch would begin posting on the social media platform, Tiktok, and by 2022 his music would begin to gain recognition. Minch would go on to release his debut single, "Handgun" on May 5, 2023 after originally posting a video of the song on Tiktok in 2022. The video garnered mass attention, receiving over 1.3 million views and over 250,000 likes.[10] It also receive praise from Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine, Zach Bryan, Gracie Abrams, and many more.[11] Minch would move to Los Angeles, California where he would live for two years. There he would struggle to adjust to big-city life and the city's relentlessly career-oriented environment.[6]

2025-Present: George

Minch released two singles, "Fingers and Clothes" and "Drawing a Tattoo," which were later followed by his technically self-titled album, George, on July 11, 2025. The album tackles themes of growing up and leaving home. Minch personally described the album as “falling victim to [his] ‘middle-of-the-country-syndrome,’” after he spent two years living away from home in Los Angeles. Minch worked on George with Producer Tony Berg. They recorded for two weeks with a full band, with Sammy Wilkes on bass, Mason Stoops on guitar, and Benny Bach on keys. Following the release of George, Minch went on a nation wide tour in 2025 during the month of August.[12] As of 2026, Minch has over 100K followers on Tiktok and over 130K monthly listeners on Spotify.[9]
