Early life and education

Jamie Krasner was born in NYC and raised in New Rochelle.^[2]

Krasner attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence from 2007 to 2011.^[2][3]

Career

james K's first solo release was in 2013 with the EP Rum,^[3] which featured tracks that would end up on her debut PET released in 2016 under her own label She Rocks!^[4] in association with Dial Records (1999).

She released her second album Random Girl in 2022.

In 2024, james K released Blinkmoth (July Mix), the first single for her album Friend. In an interview with Glamcult she shared that the album had actually been finished since January of 2024 and felt as if she had "been hoarding it for a long time."^[5] The album would see a total of 5 singles before it's eventual release in September of 2025 under the label AD 93. The album received acclaim and featured in year-end lists from outlets such as Crack Magazine,^[6] Dazed,^[7] and Pitchfork.^[8] The album also landed within the top 10 of the Gorilla vs. Bear "Albums of 2025" list.^[9]

Krasner is heavily associated with experimental music and visual arts scenes in Greater New York.^[10] She is a frequent collaborator with other underground figures such as Yves Tumor on his 2018 album Safe in the Hands of Love,^[11] Oli XL, and Mykki Blanco.
