Jarrett Bell is an American sportswriter who covers the NFL for USA Today.

Career

Bell began his career covering high school football for the Dallas Times Herald from 1981-83 before becoming sports director for KNOK-FM in Fort Worth for two years. He worked as a staff writer for Dallas Cowboys Weekly, rising to assistant editor in 1985.[1][2]

In 1990, he left to join the Marin Independent Journal covering the San Francisco 49ers through 1992. He joined USA Today the following season and has been with them ever since, currently serving as a national NFL columnist for the paper.[1]

Bell has been the designated pool writer for the Pro Football Writers at five Super Bowls.[1]

From 2013-17, he worked for ESPN, primarily as a panelist on the show NFL Insiders.[3]

Other work

Since 1997, he has been a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Selection Committee as well as the Contributors Committee, which determines finalists for election to the Hall as contributors. He was also a member of the Blue-Ribbon Panel that selected the NFL 100 All-Time Team.[1]

Awards and honors

Bell was named the recipient of the 2022 Bill Nunn Memorial Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[1]
