Career

Rusted Root

Wertz joined Rusted Root in 1990, contributing vocals, songwriting, and stage presence during the band’s formative years. The group’s 1994 album When I Woke achieved multi-platinum status and featured the hit single “Send Me on My Way,” which later appeared in numerous films, television shows, and commercials.

Rusted Root toured extensively across North America, sharing stages with artists such as the Allman Brothers Band, the Grateful Dead, Santana, Page and Plant, and the Dave Matthews Band. Wertz performed with the band from 1990–1995 and again from 2000–2008. Wertz left the band in 2008.

Solo work and other projects

Wertz has fronted Lovechild and Isabella, and continues to perform and record as the Jenn Wertz Band.

Writing and spiritual work

Wertz is a published author, contributing to the 2024 anthology Awakening Stories (Palm & Lotus Press), where she writes about spiritual awakening and the phenomenon of rising Kundalini energy.

Quantum Healing

Wertz practices and teaches Quantum Healing, a form of shamanic soul retrieval and integration. The modality acknowledges multidimensional aspects of the self—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—across timeframes, lifetimes, and dimensions. Quantum Healing involves expanded states of consciousness and emphasizes the individual’s Higher Consciousness as the primary guide.

Advocacy: PUMA

In 2025, Wertz founded the Pittsburgh United Musicians Alliance (PUMA), an advocacy group that works to increase streaming pay for musicians on digital service providers (DSPs). It has secured co-sponsorship in Pennsylvania for the federal Living Wage for Musicians Act.
