John Alexander Miller (born October 7, 1953) is an American businessman and entrepreneur. Miller is the chairman and CEO of Rellim Capital Management, a multi-asset investment firm, former co-chairman of Envoy Solutions, a national distribution company, and former CEO of North American Corporation.[1][2]

Miller is the chair of the board of trustees for the University of Denver and a former board member for Sally Beauty Holding, along with other public and private companies.[1][3]
Miller was a longtime friend of Rocky Wirtz, serving as a board member for Wirtz Corporation, Breakthru Beverage Group, and the Chicago Blackhawks.[4]
Early life and education
Miller was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 7, 1953. He grew up in Winnetka, Illinois, and graduated from New Trier High School in 1971. Miller attended the University of Denver and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance in 1975. Miller continued his education at the University of Denver and received his master’s degree in business administration in 1976.[1]
Business career
Following his graduation from the University of Denver, Miller joined North American Corporation, a specialized distributor and solution provider in facility care, foodservice, packaging, and marketing execution, under his father, A Gerson Miller, who joined the company in 1946 and previously served as chairman.[5] Miller was named President of the organization in 1987.[3]
In 2020, Miller led North American Corporation’s partnership with FEMSA alongside WAXIE Sanitary creating NW Synergy, a national leader in janitorial supply, foodservice disposables, packaging solutions and specialty products distribution, which later rebranded into Envoy Solutions in 2021.[6] As a result of the partnership, Miller was named co-chairman of Envoy Solutions.
In 2023, Envoy Solutions announced plans to merge with BradyIFS, a janitorial and sanitation (JanSan) products, foodservice disposables and packaging supplies distributor.[7] Following the completion of the merger on January 17, 2024, Brady IFS rebranded to BradyPlus to encompass the company’s strategic priority of operating as one.[8]
On August 11, 2025, BradyPlus and Imperial Dade, a distributor of foodservice, JanSan, and industrial packaging products and solutions, jointly announced plans to merger. The merger was finalized on March 19, 2026, and the combined company will operate across the United States and Canda with expanded product offerings, geographic coverage, and scale, with over 300 locations in North America.[9]
Miller has served on the board of directors of Sally Beauty Holdings, an American international specialty retailer and distributor of professional beauty supplies, where he Chaired the Executive Committee and was a member of the Audit Committee.[3] He has also served on the Board of Directors for The Alberto-Culver Company and Laureate Education.[10]
He also serves as an outside director for Wirtz Corporations’ board of directions, where he is a member of its Audit and Compensation Committees and Breakthru Beverage Group, where he formerly Chaired the Audit and Compensation Committees, and as a board member of the Chicago Blackhawks.[3][7][11]
Philanthropic and civic involvement
John Miller joined the University of Denver’s board of trustees in 2008. He was named as the chair of the board of trustees for the University of Denver on July 1, 2022.[12]
In 2013, Miller and his wife, Sandy Miller, donated a one-million-dollar endowment to create the Miller Chair of Applied Economics at the Daniels College of Business.[13] That same year, Miller chaired the University of Denver’s search committee that hired former University of Denver hockey coach Jim Montgomery, who led the team to a 2017 NCAA Frozen Four Championship.[14]
In 2017, Miller made a significant donation towards the construction of the $2.1 million Miller Hockey Complex, a 7,000-square-foot hockey facility with an expanded athletic training area and upgraded locker room.[15] The Miller Hockey Complex opened in 2018.[16]
Following Montgomery’s departure from the school for the NHL’s Dallas Stars in 2018, Miller chaired the University of Denver’s search committee that hired assistant coach David Carle as head coach on May 25, 2018.[17] Since hiring Carle in 2018, the University of Denver has won the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Hockey National Championships in 2022, 2024, and 2026.[18]
In 2025, Denver University announced plans to open the John and Sandy Miller National Academy for Free Expression and Pluralism, and the Debate Across the Curriculum (DAC).[19] The Academy is set to open by Spring 2026.[20]
The Academy is expected to serve three primary functions which include being a home where all the free expression activities that are planned at the university happen, become a think tank and national convener on free expression and pluralism issues, and work with the K-12 educational space on promoting free expression and pluralism.[19] Through the Academy, the University of Denver is showcasing its commitment to free expression, academic freedom, civil discourse and a dedication to embracing difference, which are key values to Miller and his wife.[19]
Miller has also donated to University of Denver’s scholarships, the Chancellor’s Innovation Fund, the Daniels School of Business, and the Josef Korbel School of International Studies.[1]
In Chicago, Miller has served as an active community leader being involved with the Economic Club of Chicago, the Commercial Club of Chicago, and the CEO Organization.[1] He formerly served on the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA), the Illinois Export Council, as well as serving as the Chicago Chapter Chair for Young Professionals Organization and as an International Young Professionals Organization Board Member.
