Biography
Haider Khan belonged to the Maqpoon family of Skardu. Born in 1926, he was the eldest of eight siblings. He completed his early education in Skardu before joining the struggle for the liberation of Gilgit-Baltistan in 1947–1948.
Early life
Kacho Haider Khan was born in 1926 in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. He was the eldest of eight siblings. His brothers included Kacho Hussain Khan, Kacho Hatam Khan, Kacho Rafi Khan, and Kacho Murad (late). His sisters were Ashcho Gul Khatoon, Ashcho Sada, and Ashcho Khair ul Nisa.
Career
Military Service
Khan was an active participant in the War of Independence of Gilgit-Baltistan. Following the region's affiliation with Pakistan, he joined the Pakistan Army. During his military career, he participated in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and eventually retired with the rank of honorary Captain.
Civil Service
Post-retirement from the military, Khan joined the civil services in Gilgit-Baltistan. He served as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Gilgit-Baltistan Police. Following his tenure in the police department, he held administrative positions, including Director of Health and Education for Baltistan and Head of the District Armed Services Board in Skardu.

He was the father of several prominent figures in Gilgit-Baltistan:
