Akhtar (born 18 October 1999) is an Indian Karateka who has represented India in international competitions including the World Karate Federation (WKF), Asian Karate Federation (AKF),Commonwealth Karate Federation (CKF) and South Asian Karate Do Federation (SAKF) events. Holding a Black Belt 4th Dan, also an Certified Coach – Asian Karate Federation (AKF) & Accredited Coach – World Karate Federation (WKF) & National Certified Coach - Nationa Federation - NF, & International Health and Fitness Association - IHFA.

Early life & Background

Akhtar was born on 18 October 1999 in Anjhari, Mohanpur, a village in the Purnia district of the Mithila region of Bihar. His mother Bizlee Khatoon and father Md Sharafat Ali are both farmers. He was among the first students from his village to study in an English-medium school. His father, Md. Sharafat Ali, who strongly valued education, supported his admission to an English-medium institution.

Akhtar began his martial arts training at the age of ten while studying at New Horizon School (NHS). Recognizing his potential, his class teacher and school friends encouraged him to pursue professional training. At the age of 12, he was enrolled in Wushu training in Bhagalpur, where he began competing at the district level. He represented the Bhagalpur District Wushu Association and was later selected to represent the Bihar Wushu Association at the national level.

In 2011, Akhtar participated in his first national-level competitions — the 11th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship and the 20th Senior National Wushu Championship, held in Jammu and Kashmir, representing the state of Bihar.

After completing his CBSE Class 10 board examinations in India Public School, Purnia, bihar, he moved to Delhi to further studies and advance his training in martial arts and karate in Xtreme Martial Arts India (XMA Academy India) Delhi, he continued developing his skills and went on to represent Delhi in several national-level karate competitions and India in several International level Karate competitions. Like official, style, open etc..

Career

International career

Akhtar represented India at the Commonwealth Karate / Commonwealth Club Championships, where Indian athletes won multiple medals.[1][2]

He also competed at the South Asian Karate Championship, where he won a medal representing India.[3]

He also competed at the Open events like Harlow Open, Turkey Open, Bhutan Open & India Open Karate Championship, where he won a medal representing India

National career

At the national level, Akhtar has represented Delhi in the Senior National Karate Championship, where Delhi athletes secured multiple medals.[4]

In 2022, he was among the sportspersons who received financial assistance under the Delhi government's sports support scheme.[5][6][7][8]
