Career
Emanuel began her career in the music industry at Rough Trade Distribution, where she worked in production before founding Key Production in 1990.[2]
Key Production Group provides manufacturing and packaging services for physical music formats including vinyl records, CDs and cassettes. Under Emanuel’s leadership, the agency has grown to serve both independent and major record labels and has expanded internationally, including into European markets.[3][4]
The agency experienced growth during the resurgence of vinyl records in the 21st century, with increased demand for physical music formats contributing to its expansion.[5]
In 2024, Emanuel transitioned Key Production Group to employee ownership through an employee ownership trust (EOT), with the business thereafter held on behalf of its employees while she remained Chief Executive Officer.[6]
Emanuel is also the owner of Jicaro Island Lodge, an eco-lodge in Nicaragua.[7]
Industry involvement
Emanuel has been cited as an industry voice on trends in physical music production, including the continued demand for vinyl and challenges in manufacturing supply chains.[8][9]
She has also discussed the long-term resilience of physical music formats despite the growth of digital distribution.[10]
Emanuel has participated in industry conferences and panel discussions, including appearances at events such as the Sound City+ conference in Liverpool.[11]
In 2024, she presented research on sustainable vinyl production at industry events including The Great Escape festival. Research commissioned by Key Production indicated that a majority of vinyl consumers would purchase more records if they were produced with reduced environmental impact, and she has also highlighted the role of younger audiences, particularly Generation Z, in driving demand for physical music formats.[12][13]
Emanuel is a member of industry groups focused on sustainability in music production. She is also a member of the Vinyl Alliance, a collective of industry organisations working to support the growth and development of vinyl.[14]
Emanuel has also worked to address gender imbalances in the music industry. In 2025, she founded ЯevolutionƧ (formerly Moving the Needle), a non-profit organisation providing mentoring and peer support for women entering the industry.[15]
